YUBA COUNTY, Calif. — The man shot and killed by deputies in Yuba County following a 30-minute chase and gunfight was identified as Donn Moore, 22 of Browns Valley.
The Yuba County Sheriff's Office confirmed the man's identity Thursday afternoon.
The deputies involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, a deputy tried conducting a traffic stop on a truck along Marysville Road near Shadowbrook Trail in Browns Valley, according to a news release from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, Moore, allegedly failed to stop and led deputies on a half-hour chase.
The truck reportedly became disabled and stopped near the 2600 block of Highway 20, north of Marysville.
Police said just before 11 p.m., Moore allegedly fired shots from his truck. Multiple deputies then fired back during a gunfight, the sheriff’s office said.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the Yuba-Sutter Officer-Involved-Shooting and Critical Incident Investigation Team, which is led by Yuba and Sutter County district attorneys' offices and other experienced law enforcement officers.
