TURLOCK, Calif. — The suspect involved in a fatal hit and run crash Tuesday afternoon in Turlock turned himself in.
The driver has been identified as Armando Michael Arreola, a 25-year-old Turlock resident who walked into the Turlock Police Department this morning.
This comes after Arreola allegedly hit and killed 83-year-old Delhi resident Santiago Estrada-Gonzalez with his vehicle.
Arreola was interviewed by the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) at the Turlock Police Department. Investigators said they learned the whereabouts of the involved white 2004 Acura TL. The vehicle was recovered by Modesto Police in a residential area in the 600 block of East Coolidge Ave.
The vehicle was taken to Turlock Police Department where it will be processed for evidence.
Arreola was transferred to the Stanislaus County Jail booked on charges of manslaughter and felony hit and run charges.
The suspect remains in custody with a set bail of $25,000.
“The investigation into this incident is not over with the arrest of Arreola and the recovery of the involved vehicle,” said Acting Captain Russel Holeman. “We offer our sincere condolences to Santiago’s family during their time of loss.”
The Traffic Safety Unit will be serving additional search warrants and will continue their work to gather evidence to solidify this investigation, according to Captain Holeman .
