Former Stockton Kings player accused of kidnapping, killing Las Vegas woman, police say

Chance Comanche and his girlfriend were arrested in different states.

LAS VEGAS — The arrest of a Stockton Kings player, who was released from the team following the arrest Friday, is connected to a kidnapping-turned-murder investigation, officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Sunday.

Law enforcement officials in Las Vegas say that two people reported Marayna Rodgers missing on Dec. 7.

Rodgers was out with friends on Dec. 5 and had planned to meet her friend, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden and her boyfriend, identified as former Stockton Kings player Chance Comanche.

Since the planned meeting, police say Rodgers had not been seen or heard from. Investigators suspected foul play and arrested Harnden and Comanche on suspicion of kidnapping.

Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday. On Friday, an FBI apprehension team arrested Comanche in Sacramento. Officials say he is pending extradition to Nevada.

After the arrests, officers say they found Rodgers' remains in a Nevada desert. Officials say they plan to charge the two with open murder.

The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced they "released" Chance Comanche on Friday but did not give any more information. He was drafted to play for the team last season

Sacramento County jail records showed that Comanche was ineligible for bail.
