Woman found shot, killed in South Sacramento

Officers searched the area but were unable to find a shooter.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman in South Sacramento as a homicide, the department said Saturday. 

Around 2:15 a.m. Saturday officers responded to a shooting in the 6200 block of Fowler Avenue, just east of Stockton Boulevard. 

They found the woman, whose name has not yet been released, alive but with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her life, she died at the scene. 

Officers searched the area but were unable to find a shooter. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. At this time there is no known motive.
