WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. — A woman found dead last Thursday along the side of a highway in Washoe County was confirmed to be Patricia Portella-Wright, the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office said Monday.
The missing Kings Beach woman was reported missing Friday, August 9 but was last seen Sunday, August 4.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office said Thursday, August 15 it was waiting on confirmation from the Washoe County Coroner’s Office, but the woman's body was believed to be that of 48-year-old Portella-Wright.
Highway 431, commonly known as Mount Rose Highway, was closed between Douglas Fir Drive and Sunridge Drive Thursday due to the investigation, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
According to investigators, she may have been last seen with her boyfriend, 55-year-old Brent Clifford of Kings Beach. Clifford was booked into a Placer County jail on a murder charge. The Placer County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
He was arrested last Wednesday by officers with the Reno Police Department and is also a person of interest in a homicide that happened in Reno. Reno police say Clifford was captured around 4 p.m. Wednesday in Portola along with a red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer belonging to the Reno homicide victim.
Reno Homicide Investigation
The Reno Police Department said officers responded on Sunday, August 11 to the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue in Reno to reports of suspicious circumstances.
When officers arrived around 6 p.m. they found a man who had been shot and killed. He was later identified as 68-year-old William Andrews.
