ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Roseville police arrested two people and recovered more than $6,000 in allegedly stolen merchandise Thursday, according to officials.
The bust was part of "Operation Grinch," which increases patrols near retailers during the holiday season.
Roseville Police Department officials say they were called to a car burglary near the Galleria Mall where they chased the suspects in the Taylor Road and Roseville Parkway area before catching up to them and making the arrest.
The recovery of merchandise and arrests come after two separate armed robberies happened in the area in two days. Police say they will continue to investigate and have a heightened presence in the area.
"This increase in police presence is part of our proactive approach to ensure a secure shopping environment during the holiday season. Our officers will be highly visible and vigilant in deterring and responding to any criminal activities," Roseville police said in a news release.
In addition to the extra officers, police are advising people to be aware of their surroundings while shopping, report suspicion activities, avoid displaying their expensive items unnecessarily and park in well-lit and populated areas.
