AUBURN, Calif. — A man made off with thousands of Oxycontin pills after robbing a Walgreens pharmacy in Auburn last week.
According to the Placer County Sheriff, pharmacists at the store were preparing to close for the night when the suspect jumped over the counter, “made reference” to having a gun, and threatened the employees. Investigators say the man then grabbed a female pharmacist by the arm and told her to take him to the safe that had the “Oxy” in it.
The pharmacist opened the safe and the robber stole several bottles of prescription drugs, each one containing 500 pills. The robber then jumped back over the counter and ran from the store.
The suspect is described as a skinny, black man in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a green puffy jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, white latex gloves, and white Apple Air Pods in his ears.
If you recognize the man or if you have any information about this case, you are asked to call the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 530-889-7830. Anonymous tips can be made to the Place Crime Stoppers tip line at 800-923-8191.
