TURLOCK, Calif — Turlock police announced Tuesday the arrest of a man connected to a November 2023 deadly hit-and-run.
Police say Jose Luis Gutierrez-Cruz was arrested after an officer found a vehicle connected to him in the area of Fulkerth Avenue and Tully Road. The officer pulled over Gutierrez-Cruz and he was arrested.
This arrest is in connection with the death of 33-year-old Shane Hurst.
Police said Hurst was reportedly walking his bicycle on his way home when he was hit by a car.
Officers responded to reports of a crash around 5:50 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Christoffersen Parkway. When officers arrived, they found Hurst in the center median with a severe head injury. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
