4 dead in suspected fentanyl overdose at South Lake Tahoe home identified

The city says the substance at the scene tested presumptively as fentanyl but autopsies and toxicology reports are pending.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Officials have identified the four people who died Monday in a suspected drug overdose in South Lake Tahoe.

The city identified them as 32-year-old Abraham Lemus, 33-year-old Keely Pereira, 35-year-old Adam Joy of South Lake Tahoe; and 37-year-old Clifford Joy of Douglas County, Nevada.

The city says the substance at the scene tested presumptively as fentanyl but autopsies and toxicology reports are pending.

CASE HISTORY

Police and firefighters responded to a home on the 500 block of Roger Avenue around 9 a.m. Monday for a report of an unresponsive person.

Upon arrival, paramedics found two people dead and began performing lifesaving measures on two other people but were unsuccessful.

South Lake Tahoe Police Chief David Stevenson said two other people were also at the home and are cooperating with the investigation. Stevenson said all the people at the home knew each other and were friends.
