EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — With temperatures dropping and the transition of the fall season approaching, Apple Hill Farms is gearing up for its opening weekend.
There are around 50 farms selling different types of apples and sweets for the visitors to try. Other activities include pony rides, hay rides, face painting and more.
Although apple farms close for a portion of the year, Apple Hill has breweries and wineries open year-round for tourists to visit even when the season is over.
The grand opening for most Apple Hill Farms is Labor Day weekend. Here is a list of popular farms and times:
Farms:
- High Hill Ranch will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Rainbow Orchards will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Abel’s Apple Acres will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- O’Halloran’s Apple Trail Ranch will open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Grandpa’s Cellar will open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wine/ Beer/ Hard Cider:
- Boeger Winery opens daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Pine-O-Mine-Ranch is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Rucksack Cellars is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- North Canyon Cider Co. is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
These farms can be found along Carson Road, off Highway 50, and nearby streets. If you are heading up to Apple Hill this weekend for Labor Day, expect traffic. A map of apple farms can be found here.
