Sacramento region traffic map:
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will be in the place starting through Friday. Wind gusts will be up to 50mph in the Sierra valley. Gusts at the crest could reach 100mph. Blowing and drifting snow will reduce visibility and create travel delays.
Dry weather returns for the start of the weekend but colder temps are expected to persist through early next week. The clearing overnight skies will also result in some chilly evenings and patchy frost. Lows over the weekend and early next week will drop into the 30s for the valley and teens for the Sierra.
