SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The family of the mother killed in Sacramento's Pocket neighborhood on Valentine's Day is pleading with whoever is responsible to turn themselves in.
Her family identified her as 26-year-old Chasity Sparkman, a loving mother of two young children.
The family is going through a slew of emotions as they try to understand how Sparkman was shot and killed on Valentine's Day.
"Especially hard for her kids. My auntie has to sit here and deal with the mood swings. She's trying to cope herself. We're not okay. We're trying to be, but we're not okay," said Sparkman's sister, Lashalynnd.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lake Crest Village Shopping Center in the Pocket neighborhood.
Sparkman's family says from what they know, she was there meeting with her husband when things turned violent.
"We want to know the truth, you know? We want an investigation. We want justice. We want them to turn themselves in. If they have nothing to hide, they should be able to come forward and clear their name. We're just hurting," said Sparkman's older sister, NaYana.

ABC10 asked the Sacramento Police Department if Sparkman was meeting with her husband. All they could say was they're actively looking for any suspects and don't want to compromise the investigation.
For now, Sparkman's family is trying to focus on the lasting memories made with her.
"She was a firecracker, she loved everyone. She loved her family. She was very family-oriented. If you know my sister, you know you guys could argue one day and she's gonna call you the next day and say, 'I don't care about you being mad girl, what you doing,'" said Lashalynnd.
The mother leaves behind her 6-year-old daughter, Princella, and 8-year-old son, Zayone. The family hopes the two children can make it through the loss.
"Remember their mother loved them and that she's the angel that's watching over them, and that they can just hold onto the memories and the love that their mother has for them. God gives them the strength to get through it because they're just babies," Sparkman's aunt, Renea Brown.
Her sisters, parents and children are asking the killer - or killers - to come forward and turn themselves in.
"Do the right thing. That's all we want, is to do the right thing, so we have our closure. She deserves that. She deserves it. She was such a light. She didn't deserve to die the way she died. She didn't deserve it," said Lashalynnd.
The family set up a GoFundMe where you can make donations for the children. A vigil is planned at the Lake Crest Shopping Center Wednesday at 6 p.m.
