El Dorado County hosts 4th of July Family Blast at fairgrounds in Placerville

The event runs from 3-9 p.m. at the El Dorado County Fair & Event Center. Patrons are told to bring their propane barbecues, coolers and dancing shoes.

PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Placerville’s annual Fourth of July Family Blast is Thursday, July 4.

The event runs from 3-9 p.m. at the El Dorado County Fair & Event Center, and patrons are encouraged to bring their propane barbecues, footballs, coolers and dancing shoes. Outside alcohol, pets, charcoal barbecues and glass containers are prohibited.

Locked-N-Loaded, a Northern California-based band, will provide live music from 5-9:45 p.m., and fireworks generally start around this time — the display is coordinated with the Placerville Speedway.

Food and drinks are available for purchase.

Patrons buy their tickets at the gate; it is cash-only. The event is first-come, first served and tickets to the Family Blast do not include admission to the racetrack.

Ticket prices are:

  • $10 Parking in the Tiers.
  • $5 per person (walk-in at the gate), kids 6 and under are free.
  • $30 per carload — includes parking on the grounds and Family Blast admission for up to 6 people.
  • $75 for RVs — includes overnight parking on the grounds and gate admission for up to 6 people.
