FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Fairfield police officials announced Thursday that the results of their investigation into an alleged home invasion and sexual assault of a woman "strongly suggest" incorrect information was provided to them.
The alleged home invasion was reported Jan. 31 in a neighborhood around Peabody Road and Gramercy Circle—and a description of the suspect was initially released.
Thursday's announcement came in a Facebook post.
"All of the involved parties have been identified and interviewed and no arrests will be made at this time," the department said in the post. "Currently, there is no known risk to public safety by any of those involved."
ABC10 contacted Fairfield Police who said that no crime was committed in this case and they cannot share additional details.
The investigation is being forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review, the department said.
Reports of the incident concerned neighbors, and nearby residents told ABC10 they were taking extra safety precautions.
