DIXON, Calif. — A Solano County high school went on a brief lockdown Friday after an 18-year-old allegedly made threatening calls to the campus, according to officials.
The Dixon Police Department says they charged Josiah Boyd-Vaughn on suspicion of “felony criminal threats” after two threatening phone calls were taken by Dixon High School staff members.
Police say officers began investigating and traced a phone number back to a Fairfield teenager who had let Boyd-Vaughn use their phone. Police say Boyd-Vaughn "confessed to making the threatening calls," in a press release.
Dixon High School went on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the Dixon Unified School District. It’s unclear how long the school was on lockdown, but officials say there was no credible threat to Dixon High School students or staff.
This incident happened just a month after a 15-year-old was arrested in connection to three high schools in Fairfield going on lockdown after getting similar threatening calls in what Fairfield police called a “swatting” incident. Police say “swatting” is when someone prank calls police in hopes their call will result in a large police response — including the SWAT team.
The Dixon Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 707-678-7070.
