Folsom High will not have a homecoming game after Davis High forfeit

The homecoming events and game can't be rescheduled, according to Folsom High School's principal.

FOLSOM, Calif. — The Folsom High School Bulldogs will have their homecoming events, but it'll be without the traditional homecoming football game, according to Folsom High School's principal.

"We are disappointed to not have a game this week as our homecoming game is a great celebration and tradition at Folsom High," said Folsom High Principal Howard Cadenhead.

The change in plans comes after Davis Senior High School forfeited its Sept. 27 game against Folsom due to safety reasons.

Davis High Athletic Director Mark McGreevy told ABC10 the Blue Devils only have 21 serviceable varsity players. Eight of their players are injured, with most of them being two-way players.

"We don't have the same kind of developed football programs as our counterparts in the SFL. It came down to safety. It wouldn't be safe to go play at Folsom on Friday. We had to be responsible," McGreevy previously told ABC10.

Cadenhead said Folsom High won't be able to reschedule its homecoming events or its game since they take months of planning and coordination with the city.

That being said, the parade will still be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Sutter Street along with a community rally at the Zittel Family Amphitheater.

"We have moved the crowning of our Queen and King, which typically happens at halftime of the game, to the rally after the parade Wednesday," Cadenhead said.

The rally during the school day Friday and the dance Saturday night are unchanged.
