Freeway closings to know about this weekend in Northern California

Expect congestion in Sacramento, Yolo County and Rio Vista. Here are some detours.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — There are several closings this weekend (Oct. 19-20) impacting local freeways.

Business 80

Business 80 will see 55-hour lane closings this weekend from Friday, October 18 at 10 p.m. to Monday, October 21 at 5 a.m. Expect closings between Arden Way and E Street along North and Southbound Business 80 reducing traffic to two lanes. The southbound side will be down to one lane during the overnight hours. For more information on this project, click here

Eastbound I-80 Connector

In Yolo County, the eastbound I-80 connector from the Yolo Causeway to Eastbound I-80 toward North Sacramento will be closed for 55 hours from 9 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 4 a.m. Monday, October 21.

Here are Caltrans’ suggested detours: 

“For Sacramento International Airport (SMF) use eastbound I-80 to State Route 113 (SR 113) North to Main Street (EXIT 37) to the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp and continue to the Sacramento International Airport.

For north Sacramento and Roseville, continue eastbound on I-80 to eastbound U.S. Highway 50 (US 50). Take North I-5 Redding (EXIT 4A) and continue north to the eastbound I-80 Reno (EXIT 522).”

Rio Vista Bridge:

The Rio Vista Bridge (Helen Madere Memorial Bridge) will be closed along Highway 12 (SR-12) this weekend from 9 p.m. Friday, October 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, October 21.
