HOMEWOOD, Calif. — One of the daughters of the Homewood shooting victims filed a lawsuit earlier this year against her sister and brother-in-law in connection to her parents' deaths.
The lawsuit was filed on June 5, 2023 against Erin Spohr, Daniel Serafini and "Does 1 through 10, inclusive."
Robert G. Spohr and Wendy Wood were both shot in June 2021. Spohr died from the shooting, but Wood survived. However, the family told ABC10 that Wood took her own life earlier this year, and they hold the shooter responsible for her death as well.
On Oct. 20, 2023, Danny Serafini and Samantha Scott were arrested in connection to the shooting.
Serafini, 49, was arrested in Winnemucca and Scott, 33, was arrested in Las Vegas. The sheriff's office said both Serafini and Scott knew each other and the victims. According to public records, Serafini was the son-in-law of the victims. According to a prior statement from daughter Adrienne Spohr, Scott was her sister's close friend.
The June lawsuit doesn't name Scott as a defendant.
In a prior statement following the arrests, Adrienne Spohr said she could not comment on her sister's level of involvement.
The lawsuit alleges the shooting was "premeditated and planned."
