How much did Sacramento's economy benefit from Leonardo DiCaprio movie production?

City officials said Warner Bros. Pictures worked closely with Sacramento's Film and Media Office, bringing millions of dollars to the city.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento's Film and Media Office recently reported the city saw $5.3 million in local spending tied to the Warner Bros. production of a major Hollywood film starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The still-untitled movie also starring Teyana Taylor wrapped up a 16-day film shooting in the city at the end of February.

City officials say the single-film production more than doubled the economic impact of all film productions from last year.

Of the millions spent during the film's production in Sacramento, $915,018 went to hotel expenditures equating to almost 4,000 hotel stays.

At least 172 local workers and 35 vendors from the area were hired, including restaurant and food truck Yolanda's Tamales, who also received a visit from actor Sean Penn.

Owner Andres Yanez told ABC10 last month the film's production staff called them wanting 300 lunches in three hours.

“Hosting a production of this caliber not only brings Hollywood stars to our city but also generates substantial economic benefits for our local businesses and workforce,” said Sacramento Film Commissioner Jennifer West.
