The 20-year-old El Dorado Hills native reportedly played football at Oak Ridge High School before his graduation in 2022, according to a fundraiser.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — The man killed in a crash Thanksgiving morning in Rancho Cordova, which hurt two others, has been identified.

El Dorado Hills native Julian Shaun O’Donoghue, 20, died as a result of a head-on collision between a sedan and van along Grant Line Road south of Chrysanthy Boulevard, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Two others suffered serious injuries in the crash where one vehicle allegedly drifted into the other lane, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. O’Donoghue reportedly died at the scene.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, deputies said. Roads were closed after the crash but reopened roughly six hours later.

The Rancho Cordova Police Department's traffic unit leads an investigation into the incident.

O’Donoghue played football at Oak Ridge High School and graduated in 2022, according to a GoFundMe reportedly organized to ease costs placed on the family by his unexpected death.
