RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A dog was killed in a Rancho Cordova house fire.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded to a house fire near 11874 Stoney Oaks Court around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they were able to put out the fire while locating a dead dog inside the house. No one else was home during the time of the fire but crew members are looking for one person.
The fire progressed into the attic but officials were able to knock it down before structural damage to the house.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department said this was the 4th structure fire of the day.
This is an ongoing investigation.
