SACRAMENTO, Calif. — It’s winner "moves on Tuesday" as the Sacramento Kings take on the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center in a play-in game.
For many Kings fans, it’s déjà vu to last year’s playoff series and nearby businesses hope to reap the rewards from the influx of visitors.
Tipsy Putt hopes the Kings can ring in a win and Brandon Robinson says the pub is giving free cowbells to customers along with a raffle ticket.
"Every 15 minutes, starting at 5:30 p.m., we will be giving away tickets to the game," he said.
Businesses are going big knowing that if the Kings lose, it will be their last game for months. The games are a big economic boost for DOCO.
The same is true for establishments across downtown and midtown Sacramento. Cheaters in East Sacramento is also gearing up for a busy night. JP has been a bartender there for about three years.
"(It) just gives everyone a reason to be out. Playoffs were huge for us, it carried us last season. This game is like game 7 of the finals," said JP. "The Kings double or triple sales easily."
Jet’s in midtown is decked out from top to bottom in purple pride, just like owner Jet Bonanno.
"We are doing a monthly pop up for playoffs. It’s going to be Kings Kingdom for the whole month," said Bonanno.
He’s betting big just like last year when he placed a bet in Vegas the Kings would win it all. This time, he’s hedging those bets with a monthlong promotion that could very well end Tuesday night.
"It’s huge," said Bonanno. "The city is energized. It’s a good time for everyone."
The game starts at 7 p.m. on TNT.
The Kings will need to win two play-in games to secure a playoff berth. If they beat the Warriors, they'll face the loser of the clash between the 7th and 8th seeds, either the Los Angeles Lakers or the New Orleans Pelicans.
