5 dead, 3 hurt after violent weekend in Sacramento. Latest shootings are tied to sideshow activity

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in separate shootings connected to sideshow activity in Sacramento, police said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two men are dead and another is hurt after separate shootings early Sunday morning tied to sideshow activity in Sacramento, authorities said.

After the two Sunday shootings, the Sacramento area totaled six shootings over the weekend within a roughly 26-hour span. In six incidents, five people were killed and three were injured, according to law enforcement.

Most recent shootings (#1 and #2)

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to Kelton Way and Main Avenue in North Sacramento to reports of a shooting.

As a result, two men were transported to the hospital; both suffered at least one gunshot wound.

One man died from his injuries, while the other is in stable condition. Police are still on scene investigating as of 11:40 a.m. Sunday.

Just after 2 a.m., officers also responded to the 2400 block of Seamist Drive in South Natomas to multiple reports of a shooting, and they located a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Law enforcement conducted life-saving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said there is an active investigation into the incident, and there are no suspects in custody nor a suspect description as of 4 a.m. Sunday.

“While the 2400 block of Seamist Drive and the Kelton/Main homicides are separate incidents they are related to the various sideshow activities from the evening/early morning,” police wrote in a statement.

Shooting #3

Around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported a man was shot in the face.

The incident was a gang-related shooting at the Valero gas station on Fulton and Northrup avenues, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a sheriff’s office spokesman. The man was shot at least once in the face, several times in the torso and possibly in the back, Gandhi said.

As of 12:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies said the man is in stable condition and will survive.

Shooting #4

A 12-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Saturday evening in Meadowview, authorities said.

Just after 6 p.m., officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 7600 block of 22nd Street, near John H. Still Elementary School, and located a boy with one gunshot wound. They administered life-saving efforts, but he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

As of 1:30 p.m. Sunday, no arrests have been made in the case, and there is no suspect information, the department wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The department said it encourages anyone with information about the incident to call the dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

Shooting #5

A woman was killed in a shooting Saturday evening in Sacramento’s College Glen neighborhood, and a male was detained in connection with the incident, police said.

Sacramento police responded to reports of a shooting around 5 p.m. along the 3100 block of Occidental Drive. Officers said they located a woman with at least one gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Saturday they believed the incident was contained to the residence, and one man was detained. Officers are investigating whether or not he was involved in the shooting, law enforcement said Sunday afternoon.

Shooting #6

A man was killed and another hurt after a shooting early Saturday morning in Midtown Sacramento.

Just before 1 a.m., police responded to shooting reports along the 2300 block of J Street. Officers located two men; both were transported to the hospital.

One later died from his injuries, police said.
