SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man is now in custody after a deadly shooting in front of a Sacramento Wingstop location.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Alimohammed Hamid was arrested Thursday and taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked on suspicion of murder. He is being held without bail.

His arrest comes after a Feb. 24, 2024, shooting in front of the Wingstop in the 5900 block of Florin Road.

Deputies arrived to find 38-year-old Joseph Soto with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries on March 21.

The sheriff's office says its initial investigation found Soto may have been in an argument outside of the restaurant with another man when he was shot. It's unclear if Hamid was the man Soto was arguing with at the time he was shot.
