Miller Park Safe Grounds homeless residents cleared from sanctioned encampment

Sacramento city officials say homeless residents staying at Miller Park will be transitioned into trailers or Pallet homes along Roseville Road.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento city officials are clearing out homeless residents from the sanctioned Miller Park encampment as new shelters and housing opportunities open nearby.

Homeless residents will be moved into trailers or Pallet homes at the new 3900 Roseville Road housing site that can host up to 240 people.

Miller Park was evacuated previously during the past winter storms partially due to rising river levels. City officials say these concerns are not present at the new site.

Sleeping cabins used at the Roseville Road location are the same ones designed by Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration for an upcoming wellness space. Future sites include:

  • A new community care campus by Wellspace Health on Stockton Boulevard
  • A Safe Stay community by Sacramento County on Watt Avenue
