Tents cleared from park ahead of movie filming, Sacramento Homeless Union says

An unnamed movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, among others began filming in the city last week.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Warner Bros. movie being filmed in Sacramento had homeless tents removed from Cesar Chavez Park, according to the Sacramento Homeless Union.

The Sacramento Homeless Union says tents were tagged with notices of filming Thursday and those living in the tents were forced to leave the area.

"This permit should have never been given," said Crystal Sanchez, President of the Sacramento Homeless Union.

ABC10 reached out to city officials Saturday about the tags and clearing of the park but were unable to readily get into contact with anyone.

The unnamed movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall and others began filming in the city last week, causing brief disruptions to business as usual in the downtown area.

Action included a helicopter with a large camera on the nose circling the area for hours, a car smoking on H Street and other antics Saturday.
