2 students killed in crash on Eight Mile Road near Stockton identified

Richard Wilson, 14, and Sariah Sayasit, 12, were killed when the driver of the car they were in lost control of the car, according to CHP.

STOCKTON, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released the names of the two victims killed in a Friday afternoon crash on Eight Mile Road near Stockton.

Richard Wilson, 14, and Sariah Sayasit, 12, were killed when the driver of the car they were in lost control of the car and veered to the left off the roadway, according to Stockton CHP.

Officials said the car overturned and landed on its roof in the water at White Slough.

10 people were in the car, ranging from 13 to 17 years old. CHP says several of the passengers were not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened, and that the driver was identified as a 17-year-old girl who didn't have a driver's license.

"We are deeply saddened to share that two students passed away yesterday in a car accident," said the Lodi Unified School District in a Facebook post.

The district announced it would provide counseling and bereavement support services at Bear Creek High School and Delta Sierra Middle School. The Stockton Police Department chaplains will also be available to assist students and staff, according to the district.
