STOCKTON, Calif. — A San Joaquin County man was sentenced to 135 years to life in state prison on Monday for 10 counts that include sex crimes against two children who are 9 and 11 years old, officials confirmed.
William Rene Valverde, 41, engaged in sex acts including "oral copulation and lewd and lascivious acts," according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar.
Valverde molested his girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter in 2010 and his own 9-year-old daughter in 2016 and 2017, according to the DA's office.
Valverde continued to assault the 11-year-old even after she reported him to Children's Protection Services that same year. His daughter reported him in 2018, according to the DA's office.
"Sexual crimes against children are the most reprehensible types of conduct that this office prosecutes," Verber Salazar said. "The emotional toll on the victims, their families, and our prosecutors is profound."
Salazar said her office hopes the "survivors of his monstrous crimes" will find relief in Valverde's sentence and that they can begin the healing process.
A jury convicted Valverde on Dec. 18, 2019, of 10 separate charges that include oral copulation with a victim under the age of 10, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, dissuading a witness by force or threat, and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
