STOCKTON, Calif. — 5 p.m. March 19 update: A body was found by a civilian diver in the Calaveras River Tuesday morning and has been confirmed by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office to be missing Stagg High School student Xavier Martinez.
Original story: For five days, crews have been searching along the Calaveras River for a missing Stagg High School student, but there's yet to be any results.
With the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office scaling back their search efforts, the search Sunday was volunteer driven.
Throughout the day, hope was the common sentiment as community members showed up to the help the search efforts and support the family.
Officials said the 15-year-old student jumped into the Calaveras River while running away from a fight at the high school Wednesday afternoon.
Angela Navarrete saw the search for the teen unfold right in her backyard.
"We met with the grandma yesterday as well, see if they needed anything. We walk this levee daily with our little kids riding our scooters," said Navarrete.

Volunteers from two water rescue groups also provided help. Drone pilot Michael Garcia heard about the search and knew he had to help.
"I was like, 'You know what? I got time today, so let me just come out and see if I can help out the mom in any way' because I mean no mom should, or parent should, have to go through this," said Garcia.
While the teen's mother was too emotional to talk on camera Sunday, she thanked the community for the support.
"It feels good seeing all the people come out and give some support and all of that," said Louie Sandoval, a friend of the teen's family.
Sandoval made the trip from Southern California when he heard the news.
"His family is taking it real hard and they need help. And I just hope to god, we're praying, all of us," said Sandoval.
He is promising to be there for the family and is hoping the community will continue to be as well.
The boy's mother, Amanda Martinez, identified her son as Xavier Martinez. She is still hopeful that he is out there and that someone could have information that could help.
