Sutter Health spends $76M on new Sacramento center expected to see patients late 2025

The Sutter Health Arden Care Center will offer specialty care, diagnostic imaging, urgent care and a clinical laboratory, the health care company said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sutter Health is spending around $76 million in renovations of a Sacramento building to open a specialty care services center late next year, the health care company said Tuesday.

A 70,000-square-foot, three-story office building at 1651 Exposition Blvd. will reportedly transform into the Sutter Health Arden Care Center and feature specialty care including dermatology, endocrinology and rheumatology as well as outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, urgent care and a clinical laboratory. First patients are expected to be seen in December 2025.

Internal demolition is underway, and construction is slated to start January 2025, the company said.

“Sutter is expanding and needs more office space for primary and specialty physicians and services,” Sutter Health spokesman Gary Zavoral told ABC10.

The center will house the offices of approximately 40 new and existing Sutter physicians, Zavoral said. Existing offices elsewhere can then house new programs, resident physicians and physicians seeking fellowships.

A separate, $145 million center was approved last month to begin construction in Folsom.

“Sutter Health is also expanding its Elk Grove Care Complex with the planned construction of a new 56,000-square-foot, $67.8 million specialty care center,” the company wrote in a news release. “In addition, Sutter Health acquired seven acres of land in south Placer County on Highland Pointe Drive for a proposed care center that could feature primary, urgent and specialty care.”

Sutter leadership said patients should have multiple services available in one location.

“Adding more care locations for patients and families is just one part of how Sutter plans to expand patient access now and in the future,” said Rachael McKinney, Sutter Health’s Greater Sacramento president. “We have recruited more than 250 physicians to the area alone, expanded pathways for the next generation of caregivers, and added digital health support that will help meet the growing demand for our services and enhance the overall patient experience.”
