RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A 16-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting outside of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Rancho Cordova.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Monday on Mills Station Road.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a 17-year-old had been shot in the chest. He was taken to a hospital and is expecting to survive.
Investigators say the shooting happened after a fight between the 16-year-old suspect and his 17-year-old victim in the store's parking lot.
The victim went inside the store after he was shot to get help while the suspect ran away, the sheriff's office said.
The suspected shooter was found minutes later and arrested. He was transported and booked into the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility.
