WOODLAND, Calif. — Thursday night’s fireworks show in Woodland has been rescheduled due to injuries.
According to the City of Woodland, the contractor that helps the city put on its show had serious staff injuries at a show Wednesday night.
The show has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 16, according to an updated release from the city.
The number of those injured, the location of Wednesday's show and the extent of injuries is unknown.
Three people were injured Wednesday in a fireworks mishap down in La Puente (Los Angeles County). The city of La Puente says a pyrotechnic technician was seriously injured in a misfire and explosion while two other technicians had minor injuries, however it's unclear if this is the event that prompted Woodland's cancelation.
Thursday’s show was scheduled to happen around 9 p.m. at the Woodland High School stadium and include a performance by 2023 Yolo Idol winner Amelia Burmester.
The city’s Fourth of July Ice Cream Social is still on from 1-3 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center. It costs $2.
The city’s pool will also be open from 1-4 p.m. at the Charles Brooks Community Swim Center. The floating inflatable obstacle course will be available to use.
