CHP: 1 dead, 3 injured in Yuba County wrong-way DUI crash

A 19-year-old driver is accused of driving under the influence and causing the deadly crash.

The California Highway Patrol said the woman who was killed in the crash was identified as 47-year-old Francisca Monzono of Elverta.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested Monday after a deadly wrong-way accident in Yuba County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Alannah Eastern of Elk Grove was driving a white Buick sedan northbound on the southbound McGowan off-ramp and onto Highway 70 around 5:30 a.m.

CHP says she crashed head-on into a silver Toyota going south. The 47-year-old woman driving the Toyota was killed in the crash, while her passenger was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Eastern and her passenger were taken to the hospital with major injuries.

CHP says Eastern was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury.

The crash is still under investigation.
