A new record high wind gust was possibly set in California on Sunday.
Kirkwood Ski Resort recorded a 209 mile per hour wind, however, the National Weather Service tweeted that they are possibly seeing some recorded errors at the site.
Regardless of the record, Sunday has been windy throughout Northern California. The weather pattern that helped deliver these strong winds started building Saturday night.
An upper level low dug down along the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and it moved quickly south on Sunday creating a strong northerly flow behind its departure. In addition, a strong northerly flow developed with a high-pressure ridge building above.
This set up created a favorable environment for windy weather over Northern California.
Here are some of the other peak gusts the ABC10 Weather Team has been monitoring through the day.
A Wind Advisory is in place through 10 p.m. Sunday for the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. Breezy winds are expected again Monday, but they are below advisory criteria.
