YUBA CITY, Calif — The Yuba City community is showing their support for CHP Officer David Gordon, who was injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver on Saturday.
"There were multiple injuries he sustained to his body," said Stacy Runyen, with Back the Badge, Yuba Sutter. "We hope every day for good updates, and we communicate with that family."
Runyen has known Gordon's family for about eight years. After he was injured, she said she had to put their friendship aside and help as a founder of Back the Badge Yuba Sutter. The organization has been helping the family in the hospital.
"Tinna, Officer Gordon's wife, happens to be a friend of mine. So, I was able to contact her directly," Runyen said. "It's our way to be able to show that family the financial support, the community support, the emotional support."

The organization brought a bag of essentials for Gordon's wife Tinna and their two sons, who are 12 and 9-years-old.
"We've got coloring books and miniature games," Runyen said. "Things to pass by the time. Notepads to take any notes."
Back the Badge was created to support an officer and their family in a duty death or injury. Not only are they helping Gordon's family in the hospital, but also financially. They're holding a fundraiser on Thursday at River Valley High School between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. It's a pizza and tri-tip fundraiser.
"For us in a small town it's important for us as well," said Jim King, Rolling Stone Pizza owner who is helping with the fundraiser. "It's a symbolic gesture to give back to the people that help protect us."
They're expecting more than a thousand people to show up to the fundraiser from all over.
