The crash involved a sedan and SUV. The sedan driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the SUV driver will face a murder charge in court.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The man killed in a possible DUI crash early Monday morning in Sacramento was identified Wednesday.

Daniel Lee Jennings, 54, of Sacramento, was killed in the crash around 12:45 a.m. Monday along Franklin Boulevard at Sunmeadow Drive, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The crash involved a sedan and an SUV, ABC10 previously reported. Jennings was the sedan’s sole occupant, he suffered critical injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police said the SUV driver is Alvin Chand, 46, of Elk Grove. He reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Shortly after the crash, Chand was detained at the hospital because he allegedly showed signs of intoxication, according to law enforcement.

Chand was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning; he faces charges related to murder and vehicular manslaughter, jail records show. He is ineligible for bail and expected to appear Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.
