Sutter Health Park getting MLB ready for the A's. Here's what's being done at the ballpark

Renovations are being done at the West Sacramento ballpark for it to meet MLB standards.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Renovations are continuing at Sutter Health Park ahead of the Athletics' arrival to West Sacramento next spring.

Sutter Health Park will be shared by the A’s and the Sacramento River Cats for at least three seasons starting in 2025. The A’s are temporarily calling the West Sacramento ballpark home as they wait for the permanent planned move to Las Vegas.

To get the ballpark MLB ready, tons of work has been happening at Sutter Health Park ahead of the A’s first home game on March 31 against the Chicago Cubs.

Construction has made progress with a structure beyond left field that can be seen when passing by the ballpark on 5th Street near Tower Bridge Gateway.

In a statement sent to ABC10 in November, the A’s said construction of the clubhouse was “progressing as planned.” It’s possible that the structure is the team’s new clubhouse.

“The two-story facility beyond the left field wall will feature all the amenities of a typical Major League clubhouse, including a dressing room, training facility, full gym, manager and coaches' offices, kitchen, dining room, and dual batting cages” the A’s said.

According to the City of West Sacramento Building Division, “tenant improvements” for the 11,644-square-foot clubhouse is estimated to cost $7 million. An application for the improvements was sent to the city on Sept. 13.

Shoring for the clubhouse, which gives support to the structure during renovation, cost $300,000.

An application for structural work, including walls and stairs, was sent to the city on Aug. 7 and is valued at $2 million.

Other work for the ballpark includes various upgrades to the dugouts, ADA seating accommodations, new stadium lighting and stair access to the roof for MLB cameras. The upgrades are being made to meet MLB standards and are valued at $1.2 million, according to the city.

A new 900-square-foot building that is planned to be the media broadcast compound is being built across the street from the ballpark on Riske Lane, according to the city. The media building is expected to cost $700,000.

Renovations are also being made to the playing field and premium seating areas. The A’s said renovations will be completed before the 2025 season.

Single-game tickets for the A’s are not on sale. A representative from the A’s previously told ABC10 single-game tickets for home games are expected to go on sale in early 2025.

Tickets for the River Cats’ home opener against the Albuquerque Isotopes went on sale Monday.
