Renovations continue at Sutter Health Park ahead of A's arrival

A representative from the A's say renovations will be completed in time for the 2025 season.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Renovations at Sutter Health Park are continuing months before the Athletics play their first game in West Sacramento.

A structure beyond left field can be seen when passing by the park on 5th Street near Tower Bridge Gateway. It’s possible the structure is the A’s new clubhouse.

When ABC10 reached out to the A’s about the structure, they referred to a statement they previously sent earlier this month mentioning a two-story clubhouse for the A’s.

“The two-story facility beyond the left field wall will feature all the amenities of a typical Major League clubhouse, including a dressing room, training room, training facility, full gym, manager and coaches’ offices, kitchen, dining room and dual batting cages,” the A’s previously told ABC10.

Sutter Health Park is the home of the Sacramento River Cats, the San Francisco Giants' top Minor League team. The River Cats will share the ballpark with the A’s for at least the next three seasons as the latter waits for their permanent planned move to Las Vegas in 2028.

Besides the new structure, renovations at Sutter Health Park include a natural grass playing surface instead of artificial turf as originally planned. MLB planned to install artificial turf to withstand a full regular season schedule of A’s and River Cats games over 186 days.

Other renovations include premium seating areas such as the Solon Club, Legacy Club and Gilt-Edge Club. The A’s said renovations will be completed in time before the 2025 season.

The first baseball game to take place at Sutter Health Park in 2025 will be an exhibition game between the Giants and River Cats on March 23. It will be the second straight season and fourth time overall the MLB team will come to the Sacramento area to face the River Cats.

The River Cats will have their home opener against the Albuquerque Isotopes on March 28. That game is the first of three between the River Cats and Isotopes. During that same weekend, the A’s will be in Seattle for a four-game series against the Mariners to begin the season.

Opening Day for the A’s will be March 31 against the Chicago Cubs at 7:05 p.m.

Tickets for River Cats or A’s games are currently not available. A representative from the A’s previously told ABC10 single-game tickets for their home games are expected to go on sale in early 2025.
